The Discussions feature provides Coaches and Users with a space in Ake to create and reply to posts within the app. This feature is ideally used to encourage thoughtful discussion about intervention topics between group members outside of program sessions. Coaches can also use Discussions to share internal or external material with a User or Group in preparation for the next program session.

Users can only create a discussion with a Coach or a Group they are a member of. Coaches can create discussions with a group they have created or one-on-one with a User.

Creating a Discussion

Log into Ake either by the app or by going to akeapp.com in your web browser and using the credentials provided by your program provider. Once logged in and viewing the home page, click on the menu icon (3 horizontal lines) top-right of the page to open the side menu (see below).

In the side menu, press Discussions. This will open the Discussions page.

To create a new discussion, press the Create New Discussion button top-left of the page. You will see a form on the Create Discussions page with fields to fill in. A bit about these fields is detailed below.

• Title - Give the discussion a short title. This is where you can tell the audience of this discussion what the topic is about
• Type - Choose whether this discussion is for a Group or an individual User.
• Share With - Choose who you are sharing this discussion with. If you have selected Group as a Type, you will see a list of your groups in the drop-down menu. If you have chosen User as a Type, you will see a list of Users you Coach. Users will only see the Coach or group they are a part of in this list.
• Content - This text box is where you write the body of your discussion.

When you are finished filling in the fields, publish the discussion by pressing the Create Discussion button at the bottom of the form. The fields with a * must be filled in for the discussion to be created.

After creating the discussion, you will return to the Discussions page. Any Discussions you have created or are a part of will be listed here. You can view the replies of an ongoing discussion by pressing View Replies under the first post. You can reply to a discussion by pressing Reply.

If you wish to edit a discussion or reply that you created, press the Edit button next to the post you wish to edit (see below). This will open the Create Discussions page, where you can edit your post.
